About the airport
A 21st-century airport for Western Sydney
The new Western Sydney Airport will be a state-of-the-art piece of infrastructure, planned and designed with 21st-century thinking.
With Sydney's aviation demand set to double over the next 20 years, the airport will help Sydney to meet this demand and provide a source of jobs and economic growth for the region.
The airport will be designed using forward-thinking, best-practice principles. The airport will become a transport hub, becoming Western Sydney's gateway to the world.
The airport is a large, complex project with a significant construction task. A number of environmental conditions will be met throughout the project's construction and operations. Detailed work on the airspace and flight path design and biodiversity and conservation will also be undertaken during this period, along with ongoing community consultation.
